Awareness

Together we want to make Fast Feet Charlie an event where everyone feels comfortable. Should anything stand in the way of this, our team will be happy to help. Let’s take care of each other!

What is awareness?

For us, awareness means treating each other with respect and appreciation: We want everyone to feel safe and accepted, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, skin colour, origin, religion, age or ability. We therefore do not tolerate any form of discrimination or offensive behaviour at Swingin‘ Charlie. This requires respectful and sensitive behaviour while maintaining personal boundaries. Boundaries are very individual and the power to define whether a boundary has been crossed lies solely with the person concerned. A comment may be irrelevant to one person but hurtful to another. We cannot always prevent the latter, but we can influence how we deal with it. It’s about taking responsibility for each other and for ourselves.

When should you contact the awareness team?

Basically, it’s better to come to us more than less! In general, anything that (potentially) affects your well-being at the festival can be discussed with us. This could be, for example a dance that is too intimate, racist or sexist jokes… Even if we don’t want it – offensive behaviour can always happen: so please come to us if you have felt uncomfortable in a situation with people involved (organisers, artists, helpers, etc.) at Fast Feet Charlie!

How can I get in touch?

Personally on site: We are all always on site during the parties and partially during the course times. You can simply approach us directly if you see us: we can be recognised by our yellow staff buttons. However, if we are not available, there is always someone at hand who can direct you to us – either at the check-in or in the (course) room. You can use the code ‚How do I get to Panama?‘ if you don’t want to ask for help directly. Letterbox in the entrance hall: You can also leave us an (anonymous) message in our letterbox. If you want us to contact you, you should add a mobile phone number or email address. However, it is also okay to simply get something off your chest. For urgent matters, we recommend that you always contact us directly.

How do we deal with possible cases?

We treat all information with absolute discretion and try to support you in the way that helps you best in the situation, for example: We offer you a sympathetic ear. We can mediate between you and another person. We try to find solutions with you so that you can continue to feel comfortable and safe at the festival.

The aim is to create a space where everyone can feel safe (again) and have fun! 🙂
